RITUALS FROM THE MAISON

Sunday at the Maison

A little more time, with nothing elaborate to organise.

An unhurried bathing moment does not have to happen on Sunday. Choose a stretch of time when you are less likely to be interrupted, even if it arrives on a Tuesday evening. The point is room to breathe, not a perfect weekend.

Put a clean towel where you can reach it. Clear just enough space to set down your everyday things. A whole bathroom reorganisation can wait; this is a pause, not another domestic project in disguise.

Take a shower or a bath according to what you enjoy and what your home allows. Use your usual products as directed. No special collection is necessary, and there is no reason to add an unfamiliar step simply because you have more time.

Afterwards, dry yourself and choose something comfortable to wear. A robe can be useful if you own one; so can an old cotton shirt. You do not have to look the part to enjoy the moment.

Leave a little space before the next activity. Sit somewhere pleasant, open a book or simply notice the light in the room. Keep a drink nearby if you would like one. Resist the temptation to turn the quiet into a task you must perform correctly.

Finish by putting things back within reach for next time. The most inviting ritual is often the one that is easy to repeat. A lightweight towel or a simple robe might support it, but what makes this moment yours is the time you give it.
